PROJECT DATE:
29th-30th January 2011
DESCRIPTION:
The direct followup to the series covering some of the events on the 28th of January 2011 also known as Black Friday, Bloody Friday or Friday of Anger. The following days saw not only widespread unrest but with the withdrawal of police and security forces the country was plunged into a state of relative anarchy. The citizens were quick to organize and secure their communities and each street worked together to set up improvised checkpoints and guard posts that were manned day and night by the inhabitants armed with Improvised weapons, from kitchen knives to sharpened broomsticks. This lasted for a few days until the Egyptian army intervened and deployed to the streets to try and restore order.
